A staple of a 19th century French Country farmhouse kitchen was a cupboard for storage of dishes and glassware. Today, the Farmhouse Single Door Stepback Cupboard melds traditional styling with modern function offering deep, tall closed storage with an upper display hutch.
The 42" wide cupboard has all the storage and display of a grand stepback cupboard without taking up all the space. The tall, narrow cupboard is built in two pieces; single door buffet base, with an upper single glass door hutch. The two pieces are joined together, giving it a seamless design.
The china cabinet has a tall, 39"h buffet base with a single wood door. The wide single door has two flat bevel panels divided by a center rail. Inside, the cupboard are two shelves set at fixed heights, but can be removed. The doors have wooden knobs completing the traditional farmhouse style.
The upper hutch door has nine-panes of glass divided by wood mullions. Behind the door are two wood shelves at set at fixed heights. The interior of the glass hutch is 19" deep providing ample room for storing china, glassware and collections.
The sturdy, French country china hutch is handcrafted of solid wood, including the 5/8" tongue and groove backing. The base top is water-sealed for daily use. Select your paint and/or stain options

All of the finishes that we offer on our furniture are uniquely French Country. We offer traditional milk paint finishes and stains with low VOC that is healthy for you and the environment. Our finishes are hand applied, then lightly rubbed, for time worn character (we can also finish without paint distressing!). Our finishers lightly surface distress tops for a time worn appearance. All finishes are water sealed and waxed for easy care, everyday use.
We offer (3) styles of tops on all of our furniture: Stained Pine, Hand Planed, and Birch. Below are approximate examples of each wood style, along with an explanation of the characteristics of each. All tops are finished with two coats of varnish and a wax top sealer. The cleaning of the surface is an easy soap and water maintenance, there is no special routine required, this is an easy-care system.
"Stained Pine" is our standard solid wood top featured on all furniture pieces.
"Hand Planed" is a solid pine top which has a planed down surface to open the grain of the wood to allow a deeper stain color. This technique provides an uneven, grooved surface for a more rustic look.
"Birch" is a hardwood top that has less wood grain and no knots when compared to Pine. Birch is a popular choice for customers looking for a harder top for children or heavy wear.
